**La’Nelle Anita Deleveaux: BBA – Accounting**

The Bahamas Financial Services Board has announced College of the Bahamas Graduate La’Nelle Deleveaux as its 2007 **”Student of the Year”**.

A 2007 College of the Bahamas Graduate, with a BBA (Distinction) in Accounting, Ms. Deleveaux currently is a Staff Accountant at Ernst & Young.

Her earlier education was attained at St. John’s College, Nassau Christian Academy and the St. Thomas Moore Catholic School. Ms. Deleveaux was successful in obtaining 7 BJC (2000) and 10 BGCSE (2003) certificates before entering the College. She now is a Ranfurly Home Volunteer, and while at the COB was involved in the Drama and Accounting Clubs, the Union of Students (COBUS) as a Business Senator, and also served as the Member for Long Island-Youth in Parliament, Ministry of Youth, Sports & Housing during 2006.

Ms. Deleveaux received the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants Award 2007; the COB’s Accounting and School of Business Award 2007; and the Chamber of Commerce Award for Academic Excellence 2007. She remained on the President’s List between 2004 and 2007 while at the College and in addition to serving as Valedictorian 2003 at St. John’s College, also received numerous awards during her secondary school years, including several Outstanding Students in Bahamian High School Awards as well as Track & Field Awards.

Her employers describe her as a shining star who is very focused and determined – a strong performer who is hard working, responds quickly, and is capable of handling multiple tasks.

She plans to sit the C.P.A. exam in November, 2007.

The award was presented at BFSB’s 7th annual FSI **Industry Excellence Awards Banquet** on Saturday, October 27th.

Also announced at that time were the winners in four other categories:

• Executive of the Year: **Brian M. Moree**, Senior Partner, McKinney, Bancroft & Hughes

• Professional of the Year: **Barbara Ferguson**, Assistant Manager, Account Investigations & Fraud, Credit Card Centre, RBC Royal Bank of Canada

• Achiever of the Year: **Marvin Nairn**, Senior Trust Service Officer, Cititrust (Bahamas) Limited

• Development & Promotion Award: **Commonwealth Bank Limited**

At Saturday’s Banquet, BFSB presented the first-ever **Lifetime Achievement Award** to Mr. T.B. Donaldson, C.B.E. for outstanding, sustained contribution to the growth and development of the financial services industry.
