Since the passage of the Real Estate (Brokers and Salesmen) Act 1995, the Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) has been empowered by law to be the regulatory body to oversee the practice of real estate business and the licensing of real estate agents in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

In its 50 year history, the Bahamas Real Estate Association has licensed hundreds of brokers, salesmen, appraisers and developers.

BREA members are qualified and professional through mandatory entry level education and testing and adherence to a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Many licensed members have continued their education and hold certifications recognized throughout the world, such as the CRS Certified Residential Specialist), CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist), CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), and BRI (Bahamas Realtor Institute). All of these classes are offered through BREA’s affiliation with the National Association of Realtors in the United States and held in various locations throughout New Providence.

With the introduction of the Bahamas Multiple Listing Service (MLS), BREA has continued its work to benefit persons entering into land transactions by creating one web site for exclusively listed properties in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
