The Association of International Banks & Trust Companies (AIBT) seeks to maintain and enhance the reputation of The Bahamas as an international financial centre. AIBT also works to prevent the use of banks and trust companies in The Bahamas for criminal purposes,in accordance with relevant industry legislation.
The Association has adopted a Code of Conduct for its members. This has been approved by the Central Bank of The Bahamas, and is intended to provide for AIBT member institutions resident in The Bahamas standards of conduct and professional ethics governing certain basic relationships between the institutions and their clients. The Board of Directors of AIBT may reject the new or continued membership of any institution that refuses to adhere to this Code, or that being a Member knowingly commits infractions of this Code.
