Close collaboration between the public and private sector is a hallmark of the financial services industry in The Bahamas. BFSB is in fact a creation of this nearly 20 years old collaboration.

Both sides understand and work towards a better appreciation of the needs to balance public policy and business competitiveness. A clear example of this is the regular information sessions taking place to achieve this balance.

The most recent example took place in September when in collaboration with The Bahamas Institute of Financial Services, BFSB hosted a workshop for the staff of the Registrar General’s Department where the focus was on Segregated Account Companies –their uses, the process for creation and general administration.

Tanya McCartney, CEO & Executive Director of BFSB and Samantha Knowles – Pratt of Delaney Partners, a BFSB member firm, presented to the Registrar General staff. Acting Registrar General , Deirdre Maycock, emphasized that the session provided an opportunity for continued private and public sector partnership all in an effort to enhance ease of doing business.
