The Presentations Ceremony for BFSB’s Essay and Speech Competition was held recently at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort, immediately following the conclusion of the Speech Competition component of the annual initiative. The Essay Competition was finalised earlier in the month. The topic for both contests focussed on the skills necessary in sustaining a 21st century international financial centre.
Taking the top prize in the Speech Competition was Grade 12 Student Malesha Joseph of Abaco Central High. The Essay Competition was won by Grade 11 Student Asia Davis of Kingsway Academy. The Competitions are co-sponsored by Bahamas Business Solutions Limited (BBSL), Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, and KPMG. During the Presentations Ceremony, Mrs. Keyshan Bastian, Assistant Director of Education, brought remarks on behalf of the Minister of Education, congratulating all participants from the 11 schools that made the finals and encouraging all students present to strive for excellence in all they do. She asked them to set the bar high, always aspiring to go above and beyond expectations.
The Essay and Speech Competition were hosted as part of the National Career Awareness Month (NCAM) activities coordinated by the Ministry, various government departments, and business/industry partners across civil society.
