On May 31 when the Prime Minister issued the “40-Day Countdown Proclamation”, note was taken that Bahamians have come to view the attainment of Independence on July 10, 1973 as the third in a trilogy of historically significant national events to have taken place in The Bahamas – after Emancipation and Majority Rule.
