The agreements were signed by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. T. Brent Symonette, on behalf of The Bahamas, while the Chief Minister for Guernsey, the Hon. Lyndon Trott signed the agreement on behalf of Guernsey and the Hon. M.E. de Meza, Minister of Finance, Communication, Utilities and Energy signed the agreement on behalf of Aruba.
A release from the Bahamas Government noted that Guernsey and Aruba, like The Bahamas, are members of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information. Also of note is that Aruba is the first Caribbean jurisdiction with which The Bahamas has signed a TIEA, while the agreement with Guernsey represents the first time that The Bahamas will have a tax information exchange agreement with a UK Crown Dependency.
