Today, the Principality of Monaco and Belgium signed an agreement for the exchange of fiscal information between both countries. The agreement will enable fiscal information to be exchanged on an individual basis and following a “concrete and justified” request, but will not allow “general fishing for information”, a feature on which the Principality of Monaco was particularly firm.
Monaco’s [Department of External Relations](http://www.gouv.mc/devwww/wwwnew.nsf/1909$/a13552a754dc0d28c12569ee0039a5efgb?OpenDocument&4Gb) says that Belgium is the first state with whom the Principality of Monaco has signed such an agreement.
Reportedly, negotiations with other states are currently under way, which will enable the Principality to meet its obligations under the commitment to international standards on information exchange by the end of 2009.
