Effective today, the new address of the Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX) is First Floor, 50 Exchange Place, Bay Street.
In announcing the move to their new location, Mr. Keith Davies, BISX’s Chief Executive Officer stated, *”We are very pleased to be in our new location downtown, and to be in a building which can appropriately act as our new base of operations for the foreseeable future. It is a pleasure being back in downtown Nassau in the midst of the financial district.”*
Mr. Davies commented on the decision to move back onto Bay Street and into the new premises, *”In choosing this location, we reviewed our operational requirements to ensure that our new facility would support our expanded security, filing and technology needs for our new business streams.”* The building owners rebranded the building as 50 Exchange Place, in recognition of the fact that it now houses The Bahamas’ first and only stock exchange.
BISX was incorporated in September 1999, and in May 2000 launched its domestic market for the listing and trading of local public companies. In April 2001 BISX launched its Mutual Fund Listing Facility. The listing facility is targeted at meeting the needs of international investors, who may require the extra visibility afforded by a listing on an established Securities Exchange as a basis for their choice of investment vehicle.
