Anniversary Committee**
The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) marked its 10th anniversary year in November with a Cocktail Reception at Old Fort Bay Club.
During the celebration, Minister of State for Finance Zhivargo Laing acknowledged BFSB’s achievements and noted the instrumental role which BFSB plays in the development of the financial industry.
Adding to the evening’s glamour was a Silent Auction, made possible by donations from altruistic sponsors. Items auctioned off included: two roundtrip business class tickets to London on British Airways, a 3 day 2 nights stay at the Four Season Resort, a 3 day 2 nights stay at Bimini Bay, an HP Lenovo Laptop from Bahamas Business Solutions Limited, an Antonius Roberts coffee table, and jewellery from John Bull and Colombian Emeralds.
Suzanne Black, Chairperson of the 10th anniversary committee, expressed her great appreciation to all of the generous sponsors whose contributions ensured the success of the auction. Other silent auction contributors included Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour, Bahamasair, Bahamas Ferries, British Colonial Hilton Nassau, BTC, Café Matisse, Coin of the Realm Limited, Custom Computers Limited, Emerald Palms, Impressions, Old Fort Bay Club, SkyBahamas Airline, The Skin Center and Windermere Day Spa & Salon.
Other members of the Anniversary Committee were Ivylyn Cassar, John Benjamin and Shelly Nairn.
Part of the proceeds from the auction benefited Project Read, a local charity dedicated to promoting reading within the Bahamas.
In commemoration of the 10th anniversary, Wendy Warren, CEO & Executive Director of BFSB, and Donna Nguyen-Comito, BFSB’s Programme Manager were recognized for their dedication and contributions to BFSB. Ms. Warren has been involved with BFSB since its inception, first as a Director of the Board and since 2001 as BFSB’s second CEO & Executive Director. Mrs. Nguyen-Comito has worked as a consultant with BFSB since its inception in 1998.
BFSB remains committed to the growth and promotion of the financial services sector and increasing the invaluable contribution made both to the social and economic life of The Bahamas.
