**Sanchina Kemp
2008 Student Award Nominee**

Sanchina is one of the five finalists selected for the 2008 FSI Student of the Year Award.

A Graduate of the College of the Bahamas with a BBA in Accounting (Distinction), Sanchina also has an Associate’s degree in Biology with Chemistry. At the 2008 COB Graduation, Sanchina was awarded the Chamber of Commerce, Ernst & Young and Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants Awards. Previously, on obtaining her AA from the College in 2002, she was the recipient of the President’s Award. She graduated salutatorian from Sunland Lutheran High School (currently Sunland Baptist Academy).

At COB, Sanchina was active in The Business and Science Clubs as well as the College of the Bahamas Union of Students, serving as a Dorm Senator. Community and other involvement in Freeport included volunteer work at the Rand Memorial Hospital and the Home for the Aged.

While pursuing her BBA, Sanchina worked with Deloitte and Touche in its Co-op Programme and presently serves as a Junior Accountant there. She has held summer positions at both the National Insurance Board and Alexiou, Knowles & Co. (Freeport).

An Audit Manager at Deloitte and Touche commented on Sanchina’s great desire to excel, coupled with a high level of productivity, resulting in quality work. She also recognized her as an excellent team player, focused on meeting client deadlines.

Upon completing her CPA examinations, Sanchina intends to pursue a Master’s degree in Accounting.

The Award will be presented at the October 25 FSI Excellence Awards Banquet.
