The Bahamas Government has downgraded the Hurricane Watch to a Tropical Storm Warning for the Central and Northwestern Bahamas. The Centre of TS Hanna is expected to pass east of the alert areas today, with maximum sustained winds near to 70 mph. The Tropical Storm Warning for the Southeastern Bahamas has been discontinued.
The threat for New Providence – centre where the major portion of the jurisdiction’s financial services business is conducted – is greatly diminished. “Business as Usual” is expected for most business firms throughout the Capital.
*Note: The Met office **discontinued** the Tropical Storm Warning for the Northwestern Bahamas as of 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008.*
