**Domonique Gilbert
2008 Student Award Nominee**
Domonique is a finalist for this year’s FSI Student Award, hosted by the Bahamas Financial Services Board, in collaboration with Professional Industry Associations. The Award will be presented at the upcoming **FSI Excellence Awards Banquet** on October 25.
Domonique obtained a BBA in Accounting (Credit) from the College of the Bahamas this year, and presently is working as a Junior Accountant at Deloitte and Touche. She was on the President’s List in 2007 while at the College, and her college involvement included working with COB’s Business Week. Community and other involvements have included volunteer work with The Nazareth Centre, The Ranfurly Home, All Saints Camp and The Mary Ingraham Centre.
Her secondary education was completed at St Augustine’s College, from which she graduated with honours in 2004, obtaining an “Outstanding Student in Bahamian High School” award. While at St. Augustine’s she was active in Junior Achievement, winning a Top Sales Award.
Work experience has included serving as an office assistant at Store Away Limited, and a Solutions Girl at Simplified Accounting Solutions.
An Audit/Consulting Manager at Deloitte’s says her written and oral communication skills are outstanding, and that she constantly shows initiative and willingness to assume new challenges. In particular, in dealing with demanding client engagements, she has performed well, meeting very tight deadlines.
Domonique plans to pursue the CPA exam in 2009, to earn the CFA and STEP designations and, possibly, to obtain a Masters Degree in Accounting.
