**Kershala T. Albury
2008 Student Award Nominee**

Kershala is one of five finalists for the Bahamas Financial Services Board’s 2008 FSI Student of the Year.

Kershala received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) in Accounting from the College of the Bahamas (COB) this year. She obtained an Associates of Arts Degree (Credit) in Law and Criminal Justice in 1999 and, earlier, her High School Diploma from Windermere High School.

Kershala was successful in making the President’s Honours List at the College of the Bahamas for 2007-2008, and prior to that time held numerous Dean’s List Honours throughout her time at COB. While at COB she was Student Representative for the Interview Process for Potential Dean Candidates, School of Business as well as Student Representative for the College at YEP. Since 2004, she has been an active Committee member of the Caribbean Aids Awareness Festival (CAAF).

Professional experience has included stints with FINCO, British American Bank and Union Bancaire Privee (Bahamas) Limited, before she moved to Deloitte and Touche in June 2008 as a Junior Staff Accountant.

An Audit Manager at Deloitte & Touche points to the “impeccable impression” Kershala has left with all colleagues with whom she works or comes into contact, due in large part to her effective and efficient accounting knowledge and high interest in learning the accounting methodology and standards of the company.

Kershala plans to take the CPA exam in 2009, and also has aspirations of completing her Law Degree.

Other nominees are: Ryan V.A. Albury – AA Law & Criminal Justice; Domonique Gilbert – BBA Accounting; Sanchina Kemp – BBA Accounting; and Garnel Leo – BBA Computer Information Systems. The 2008 Recipient of the Award will be announced at BFSB’s 8th Annual FSI Excellence Awards Banquet on October 25.
