Irvin, a Graduate from the College of the Bahamas (COB) with a BBA in Accounting, is a finalist for the 2005 BFSB Financial Services Student of the Year.
He was on the Dean’s Honour Roll throughout his studies at COB, also making the President’s List in his final semester. A St. Augustine’s College graduate, he obtained 7 BGCSEs. While at St. Augustine’s, Irvin was a Student Council Representative and a member of the SAC Swim Team.
Since a junior in High School, and during his college studies, Irvin has worked in his family-owned business Bahamia Rentals. He is employed now with accounting firm Ernst & Young.
Irvin’s activities and interests include the Gentlemen’s Club, and Tutoring Math, and he describes himself as an aspiring pianist.
Irvin plans to take the CPA exam in November, and later to pursue a Masters Degree in Banking in Finance / Economics.
The Bahamas Financial Services Board has announced three other finalists for this year’s Financial Services Student Award. They are: Shaniska S. Adderley, BBA Finance; Tanya M. Bevans, BBA Accounting, and Christine Leo, BBA Accounting.
This awards programme is part of BFSB’s ongoing Financial Centre Focus initiative, which also includes the annual Industry Excellence Awards, and the School Outreach incorporating a Careers Fest and Essay/Speech Competition.
The Financial Services Student Award, sponsored by Colina Financial Advisors and SG Hambros Bank & Trust Limited, will be presented at BFSB’s annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 8.
