**Bank of The Bahamas International** has received the Bank of the Year Bracken Award from *The Banker*.
The criteria for the assessment of the Bank of the Year Awards vary depending on the award. For country assessments, *The Banker’s* editorial team reflect on the latest results and banking data (including a detailed questionnaire provided by the bank) and also on technological and strategic developments. The awards recognise best overall performance in the previous period incorporating both performance criteria and qualitative achievements.
The Bracken award is named after Brendan Bracken, the founding editor of The Banker in 1926 and the chairman of the modern-day Financial Times from 1945 to 1958. *The Banker* says Brendan Bracken epitomises the global spirit, vision and integrity of The Banker and the FT Group, and that the winning of a Bracken is a fitting accolade for the performances of the world’s top financial institutions.
The Bank of the Bahamas award was one of 128 country awards (see link below).
*”It is a great honour for Bank of The Bahamas, a young financial institution, to be ranked among the leading banks in the world,”* said Managing Director Paul McWeeney *”The recognition of excellence inspires all of us to reach higher, achieve more and deliver with greater satisfaction.”*
