**Accounting Career Boost**

KPMG awards a scholarship each year to a deserving Bahamian student who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and has the career goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant or a Chartered Accountant. This Scholarship Programme was first introduced by KPMG in 1990 and initially targeted students attending North American colleges and universities. It has been extended recently to include Bahamian colleges as well.

The KPMG Scholarship Programme is designed as the first step in a planned Career Development Programme. KPMG provides employment opportunities for the recipients during their summer and winter breaks. In addition, for graduating recipients, KPMG Bahamas also endeavours to secure full-time employment with KPMG in the U.S.A. or in Canada for a period of 18 months in order to ensure practical experience abroad.

The KPMG Scholarship currently is B$6,000 per annum and is awarded to students who maintain a GPA at 3.5 or above. Applications for the 2005 Scholarship will be accepted until August 15th.
