The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has concluded its latest Ministerial Council Meeting, under the chairmanship of Sweden.
Topics on the agenda included:
• Enabling Globalisation
• The Economic Outlook
• Investing in Energy
• Globalisation and Structural Adjustment
• Challenges of the Millennium Declaration and Monterrey Consensus
• Trade Negotiations under the Doha Development Agenda
• OECD Reforms
On this last issue, Ministers discussed the role of the OECD today and in the future, stressing the need to maintain the quality of OECD work throughout the reform process. Also agreed was that momentum must be maintained in order to strengthen the relevance of the OECD as a leader in policy analysis and peer reviews, and as a pathfinder in establishing global norms and standards.
