**Katriena M. Marshall** is the recipient of the Bahamas Financial Services Board’s 2004 Achiever of the Year award.

This award is part of the annual Industry Excellence Awards Programme, during which BFSB pays tribute to industry practitioners in three categories: Executive of the Year (CEO level); Professional of the Year (Management/Supervisory Level); and Achiever of the Year (Junior/Support Level).

A “Member of Internal Control”, Ms. Marshall was hired by BSI Overseas in 2001 as a trainee for the Graduate’s Programme, and worked for the first year in Nassau with the Private Banking Department and in Special Projects. She spent the year 2003 abroad at the institution’s Head Office (BSI SA) in Lugano, Switzerland as a Junior Account Officer Trainee.

The 12-month assignment was a work/study programme, including training in the Operations/Back Office Department, rotational assistance in the Trading, Due Diligence Control and Compliance Departments, as well as training with different private banking teams as an assistant to account officers.

Since returning to The Bahamas in January 2004, Ms. Marshall has taken on the responsibility of a newly created position in Internal Control, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities include analyzing and reviewing private banking transactions and client portfolio performances. Ms. Marshall also prepares all quarterly BSIO Board of Directors presentations and Executive Committee presentations to the general management of BSI in Lugano. Her duties extend to IT assistance to all departments.
