The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced from its headquarters in Paris today that it will meet in a Plenary Session June 30 to July 2 to discuss *”the way forward”* in its fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
It is anticipated that at the conclusion of the meeting, the FATF will issue its fifteenth annual report which outlines its findings on the non-cooperative countries or territories in the fight against money laundering. Also to be released will be summaries of the FATF’s evaluations of the anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism systems of Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
The annual report also serves to highlight FATF’s progress over the past year and its mandate for the future, including anti-terrorist financing activities and co-operation between the IMF and the World Bank in the international fight against money laundering.
A news conference has been called for Friday, 2 July 2004, to be held at the OECD headquarters in Paris. At that time, Mr. Claes Norgren, FATF President, Mr. Jean-Louis Fort, future FATF President, and Mr. Patrick Moulette, FATF Executive Secretary, will discuss the highlights of the report.
