The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is scheduled to meet in Plenary session on 9-11 October in Paris. The agenda includes:
– anti-money laundering practices (including those related to the financing of terrorism);
– the Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories;
– review of the FATF 40 Recommendations to combat money laundering.
On the last item, prior to the Plenary the FATF will hold an International Forum with representatives of the private sector – banks and a wide range of other financial institutions and non-financial professions such as, lawyers, accountants, and real-estate agents – to seek their advice on the review of the 40 Recommendations. This Forum and the results of the FATF consultation paper will help shape the review.
It is anticipated that the outcome of the Plenary will be announced at a News Conference to be held at OECD Headquarters (home of the FATF) on the afternoon of October 11.
