The Counsellors have announced plans for the 4th Annual Bahamas Investment Conference to be held on October 19, 2002 at the British Colonial Hilton hotel.
The conference addresses the need to educate Bahamians from every walk of life on the merit of investing, and will discuss tips on identifying available and profitable investment opportunities.
The event, which was established in 1999 as a forum to measure the performance of publicly traded companies and the Bahamian investment climate, will proceed under the theme *”Corporate Governance”*. This concept, which has attracted a good deal of public interest because of its implications for the economic health of corporations, refers to enhancing the return on capital through increased shareholder accountability.
Venture capitalists, who are willing to invest ideas, as well as money, are applying this model to add value to their companies and to assure themselves of a higher return on their investments.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Hon. Allyson Maynard Gibson, Minister of Financial Services and Investments. Other presenters include Kevin Burrows, Vice-President of the Society of Financial Analysts; Thomas Bain, former Managing Director of J.P. Morgan; Gabriella Fraser, Senior Research Officer, Central Bank of The Bahamas; Cecile Greene, Vice President, FAMGUARD; Anthony Robinson, Managing Director, FOCOL; Barry Williams, Director of Finance at Cable Bahamas; Dr Gilbert Morris, Gilbert Morris and Associates, and David Morley, Real Estate Advisor, Bahamas Property Fund, and Keith Davies, Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX).
This year’s event, continuing in the tradition of providing an excellent networking environment, is sponsored by BISX, the Society of Financial Analysts, FOCOL, The Central Bank of The Bahamas, Family Guardian Insurance Co Ltd, Grand Bahama Port Authority and The Counsellors Ltd.
Registration costs $50 and includes coffee break and lunch. For additional information, contact Conference Coordinators, The Counsellors Ltd.
