In a recent survey, *International Tax Review* cites Deloitte & Touche as the leading tax firm (in the US) for planning and transactional work. Deloitte won the backing of clients across the country, beating the opposition to take the top spots in the west coast, central region and the east coast surveys.
KPMG won second place for planning and transactional work on the east coast as well as in the central United States, and PricewaterhouseCooopers took second place in the west coast region.
KPMG beat Ernst & Young for top spot for planning and transactional work in Canada.
When it came to choosing advisers, clients said they placed most importance on whether their advisers understand their business. Accounting knowledge comes a close second, while respondents said the technology services that accounting firms offer is the least important selection criteria when selecting a firm.
